Dr. Lashanda Waller joins the Cannabiz Laboratory teams with an extensive background in the areas of drug toxicology, microbiology, biochemistry, proteomics, and scientific research. She received her doctorate degree in Biomedical Science from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science (Biology) degree from the University of South Carolina. Previous projects include discovery of microorganisms’ surface biomarkers for biodetection/vaccine targeting, analytical testing for bacterial profiling, dynamic range separation of complex bodily fluids, and detection of post-translational modification sites produced in the diabetic insulin/IGF-1 pathway. Her mass spectrometry experience includes HPLC-UV, GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, and MALDI-TOF-MS/MS instrumentation.
During her previous 20 years in the laboratory space, Dr Waller has served as a technical supervisor over several teams. Her strategic planning allowed data for up to 2000 samples to be reviewed, processed, and sent out to clients on a daily basis. Some other areas include oversight of laboratory flow, pre- and post-laboratory inspection readiness, compliance and internal audit reviews, and training of multiple staff members. She has provided detailed customer consultation for physicians, other health care professionals, criminal justice personnel, and sales staff to address multiple questions in the laboratory and associated business space. She has also served as an instructor to several high school and college students on summer projects in the laboratory space.
During the next several years, Dr Waller’s goals are to inform the community of key information to understand the principles, design, and outlook for successful implementation of scientific testing platforms for current and future trending areas.
As Departmental Section Supervisor, Dr Waller is responsible for all aspects of the Chemistry Laboratory Department, including being responsible for day-to day supervision or oversight of the departments’ operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test results, strategically developing new Methods for analytical testing and being responsible for supervising the daily workflow and quality of analytical tests as well.
Additional duties also include responsibility for insuring completion of required instrumentation maintenance, calibration, QC submission, lot conversion etc., responsibility for the regulatory conformance of the Chemistry Department, resolution of technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor, responsibility for Chemistry Departments procedure and policy review and revision and performing validation of new test systems or LIS computer upgrade.
